New highline opened by Caio and Craig at Higgovale Valley
I started climbing because one day my friend called me up and said "Hey Craig, do you want to go rock climbing this weekend?", I replied "Yes." Once I had tried climbing, I was hooked. I could not think of anything but climbing! For Christmas I got a harness and some shoes, that was all I needed to fuel my addiction for a while. Now I have all my own gear and am trying to climb every weekend.
For me climbing always has to be fun. Its all about having a good time. You don't risk your life for something that you don't love doing, that's just stupid! I think that my most memorable send was Jimmy and the Big Boys (24), after sending the route on my 4th try I caught the rope with my thumb over the end. I am still owed some beers to this day!
Other activities in which I partake are slacklining and anything on my computer. I think I do spend a little too much time on my computer though. I originally got into slacklining because I saw a documentary about Dean Potter trying this crazy highline in Yosemite. It looked fun so I thought I'd give it a go. But recently my taste has become a little more dangerous, I've started to highline. It is the most intensely scary thing I have every done in my life, and yet I love every moment of it.
My current Projects are Red guitar on Fire (25) at the Mine and Malcome's Route (26) at Lower Silvermine, I haven't been on Red Guitar much but it will go, soon! This year I've already got to a bad start, I missed the applications to the MCSA's supertramp award. I am planning to tour Europe at the end of the year, do some deep-water-soloing and of course a lot of sport! I currently have no other set plans for 2012, I guess we'll see what happens!
