It is our belief that the process followed has been fair and transparent, and has been a significant step
in the right direction of driving higher standards in competition climbing in South Africa (including
ensuring that a high minimum standard is achieved for the awarding of Junior Protea / Protea colours).
The need to balance this with opportunities for international competition and development has been
carefully looked at as part of the process.
Each of the athletes will be informed in person this weekend of their outcome from the selection
process, and you will be copied on this communication with the athletes from your province.
Should you have any concerns or objections, please would you address them to Chris Naude, the
days of the date of this letter, or they will not be addressed.
